Start reading to children at an early age
Every adult has the power to make a difference in the life of an infant. Make time with books a positive experience as stories open up new worlds to infants and toddlers and tap into their imagination. Reading books together not only builds the important bond between a child and adult, it is key for having children develop a lifelong interest in books and learning. “The early years of life play a crucial role far beyond childhood. Research shows that many challenges in adult society – mental health problems, obesity, heart disease, criminality, competence in literacy and numeracy – have their roots in early childhood” www.earlylearning.ubc.ca
